Extra Credit...

Get extra credit on your quiz!

Complete the puzzle provided in class (or below)!

A few tips...

  • The "squiggles" on the squares are only there to help you see which pieces are "edges" or "corners"
  • I would recommend simplifying all of the identities FIRST, and relabeling them with their simplified form on the paper
  • THEN, I would cut out the squares...
  • I would recommend arranging the squares without taping/glueing first; then, once you have figured out the puzzle, you can tape everything down!
  • This is tough! For me, the puzzle was harder than the math part!
You will have points added to your quiz grade if you correctly complete the puzzle!

Quiz Tomorrow!

Tomorrow we will have a quiz--you will have to verify 8 trigonometric identities!

Remember, your quiz is based on all of the practice we've done so far, but the 8 problems we tried on Tuesday highlight some of the specific skills you'll use on the quiz!

If you were out, here are the 8 problems (solutions below). If you can do these on your own, you should be in ok shape for the quiz!

Happy Weekend!

These trig identities make my brain hurt.... :)

Enjoy your weekend! There is no official homework, but it's never a bad idea to get a little extra practice. The packet I gave you at the end of class shows the solutions for today's 8 identities, as well as 4 additional examples; if you want to make sure you're prepared for Thursday's quiz, I would try these problems on my own and then use the key to check my answers. The only way to get better with identities is to practice!

On that note, many people have asked where they can find some more problems for additional practice: check these out!
  • Extra Identity Practice:
    • Page 353: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 19, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 63, 65
    • You can also find worked out examples (I think the same ones as our powerpoint if you were absent) on pages 349-352.
    • Also, check out page 348 for some tips!
    • And of course, you can always do a google or youtube search to find all sorts of help!

No Homework!

No homework tonight!

Tomorrow we'll do some classwork to practice verifying identities....see you there!

Enjoy your half day! Go outside and soak in the beautiful weather!

Wednesday HW

Tonight, please finish the verifying trig identities "packet" (powerpoint slides) that we started in class.

These slides will serve as our notes for the chapter! Tomorrow in class we'll go over each item, and then it's on to some verifying practice. See you there!

Enjoy your Wednesday night!

Quiz Tomorrow!

No homework tonight!

Instead, study for tomorrow's trig identities quiz!

Look over last night's homework and the answer key I gave you; also, take a look at the 14 problems we did early last week that you have! If you can do all of this stuff....you're in good shape! You might also look back at the textbook problems we had to review.

See you in the am! Quiz time! :)

Enjoy your afternoon!

Monday HW

Tonight, please complete the 14 trig identities problems that we started in class!

Tomorrow we'll take some notes on verifying identities, and then on Wednesday it's quiz time! Be ready!

Enjoy your Monday afternoon! Do some trig identities outside in the sun!

Weekend HW....and EC!

This weekend, please complete the 27 matching problems provided in class (or below).

  • Each identity (1-27) matches to one of the letters (A-AA).
  • If you correctly match these and connect the corresponding lines, you can draw a picture (on the attached page)!
    • For example, #14 simplifies to sec(x), so #14 matches to E.
    • For the picture, I then "connect the dots" for 14 and e!
  • Extra Credit Opportunity:
    • After you do all of the math, if you "connect the dots" to draw the picture AND color it in I will give you extra credit!
      • Note: You CANNOT get extra credit if you just do the picture without any math!
Enjoy! Do your homework outside! And remember, the only way to get better with these types of problems is to PRACTICE! So....DO YOUR HOMEWORK! :)

Have a great weekend and get outside! See you all Monday!

Revised HW...

Hey...you....I deleted a couple homework problems (they use identities we have not discussed).

Tonight, please complete the following in your textbook:

Page 345: 15-18, 21-25

These are going to be difficult! Try your best! Sometimes you might try methods that don't work--try something else! That's what trig identities are all about--trying different solutions/methods, and NEVER giving up! We'll answer any questions tomorrow in class!

Enjoy your Thursday! Do some trig identities outside in the sun--you know I'm checking the homework! :)

Tonight, please complete the following in your textbook:

Page 345: 27-29, 31-34

Great work today with the identities! Tomorrow we'll continue with trig identities--we'll start by learning the Pythagorean Trig Identities, and then we'll look at some increasingly complex practice problems! I'm excited! See you there! :)

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

Tuesday HW

Tonight, please complete the "Trig Identities and Algebra" worksheet provided in class.

Tomorrow we'll continue to work with the identities, specifically the Pythagorean Trig Identities! See you there!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Monday HW

Tonight's homework is short--but I'm checking, so do it! Easy homework 100%!

Your homework is to write the equation below in 3 different forms:

x^2 + y^2 = 1.

Use algebraic manipulation to "move stuff around" or "rearrange stuff" to write this equation in AT LEAST 3 different ways...good luck!

Tomorrow we'll get more into trig identities--see you there! Enjoy your Monday!
