Senior Exam Tomorrow, Juniors Thursday!

Study, study, study, study, study, study, study....

Juniors: Be sure to bring your notes (and textbooks) in tomorrow to study during class!

Everyone: Don't forget your stamps! (Juniors, you can count these in class tomorrow)...

The final exam:

  • 25 MC (Seniors) OR 50 MC (Juniors)
  • 25 Open Ended
  • Study!
    • Look over the stamp problems from the past week (these are all prep. for the final)
    • Review your take home test -- this all shows up on the open-ended part of the final
    • Practice some more with the Law of Sines and Law of Cosines
    • Look over your old tests/quizzes--these emphasize the important skills we covered that will likely reappear on the final
    • Use the outline (of the final exam) I gave you to study!
      • Find areas you struggle in, then review these areas in your notes/book!
    • And as always, email me anytime with questions!
End strong! You worked hard all year...work harder for one or two more days and end this course with an A +! You can do it!

Last PreCalc HW!

This weekend, please complete the Law of Sines and Law of Cosines worksheet provided in class!

  • This is your last homework of the year--it counts as double, so do it!
  • This is also your last chance to practice with these laws before your final!
On Monday we'll answer any homework questions, review the inverse functions, and then address any questions from our take home test so we're ready for the final!

Have a wonderful weekend--it's supposed to be beautiful outside! Go play!

See you all on Monday!

TAKE HOME TEST DUE TOMORROW!

Happy Thursday!

Tonight--finish your take home test! It's due tomorrow!

Not only is this your last test grade of the quarter (unless you're a junior), but it's review for our final exam! Much of what is on the take home test will re-appear on the final! So do it, and do it well! That way you end your 4th quarter with an "A" on a test, and you start studying for next week! :)

Tomorrow in class we'll continue to work with the Law of Sines, then we'll go through the Law of Cosines--both of these will appear on your final!

On Monday we'll do some more with the Laws of Sines/Cosines and some review!

See you all tomorrow!

Wednesday HW = Quiz Grade!

Tonight, please complete the 5 problems provided in class (all multiple choice). This will count as a quiz grade!

Also, remember your take home test is due tomorrow!

  • There will be no additional homework tomorrow
  • Remember, the take home test is review for our final! Work hard on it and you're doing some studying!

Here are some hints to help you boost your grade (by question #):

  1. Isolate the cotangent (add, divide, square root); remember that the square root can be positive or negative
  2. Move the tangent terms to one side of the equation, then divide to isolate tangent (this question is just like today's stamp problem)
  3. Isolate the cosine (add, divide)
  4. Substitute for the "cotangent squared" piece using your Pythagorean identities; then, factor (like you would for a quadratic) to solve.\
  5. Substitute for the "secant squared' piece using your Pythagorean identities; then, move all terms to one side (set the equation equal to 0). This will "cancel out" the "1's" on both sides, so you're left with a "tangent squared" and a "tangent" term. Factor out a tangent from each, then solve.
And just in case you lost yours...

Take Home Test Due Friday!

Tonight, work on your take home test!

We will have a few "solving trig equations" problems for homework tomorrow; then, on Thursday, your only homework will be to finish your take home test!

Tomorrow in class we'll continue with "trig equations bingo," and then on Thursday and Friday we'll learn the Laws of Sines and Cosines. That will leave us with Monday to do a little more practice/review for our final exam...see you there!

Quiz Tomorrow!

Tomorrow we will have a quiz on solving trig equations...

Your quiz will be 4/5 problems selected from these below....so do these for homework! :)

Page 364: 1, 7, 9, 13, 22, 23, 31, 33

After our quiz tomorrow we'll play some "solving trig equations bingo," and continue to practice solving trig equations! See you there!

Enjoy your Monday afternoon!

PS...the answers to #22 are: pi/2, 3pi/2, 2pi/3, and 4pi/3
