Also, remember your take home test is due tomorrow!
- There will be no additional homework tomorrow
- Remember, the take home test is review for our final! Work hard on it and you're doing some studying!
Here are some hints to help you boost your grade (by question #):
- Isolate the cotangent (add, divide, square root); remember that the square root can be positive or negative
- Move the tangent terms to one side of the equation, then divide to isolate tangent (this question is just like today's stamp problem)
- Isolate the cosine (add, divide)
- Substitute for the "cotangent squared" piece using your Pythagorean identities; then, factor (like you would for a quadratic) to solve.\
- Substitute for the "secant squared' piece using your Pythagorean identities; then, move all terms to one side (set the equation equal to 0). This will "cancel out" the "1's" on both sides, so you're left with a "tangent squared" and a "tangent" term. Factor out a tangent from each, then solve.
And just in case you lost yours...
