Overnight Thursday (Quiz and Extra Credit)

Tomorrow we will have the quiz to begin class. It will be on everything we've been doing for the past week. This will be more of a retention of knowledge quiz, so there will be no unit circle work on it.

What's on the quiz?
  • finding six trig ratios (sin, cos, tan, csc, sec, cot) of a triangle, given two sides
  • solving a triangle (find all unknown sides and angles)
    • we have to set up a trig ratio to find an initial unknown side
    • we have to set up a trig inverse to solve for an initial unknown angle
  • sketching triangles from a given context
  • angle of elevation/depression (which always starts it's rotation at the horizontal, just like in standard position)
  • THE SPECIAL TRIANGLES AND THEIR SIDE LENGTHS!!!!! hopefully the unit circle will help you commit these to memory.
Other than quiz prep there is no homework tonight. So come in tomorrow prepped and ready to go.

Want some extra credit?

If you complete your entire color-coded unit circle tonight--label all angle measures and find all coordinates for each point on the unit circle--you will get homework extra credit and quiz extra credit! Use the investigation instructions to get this done! Take advantage of this opportunity!

And here are the hints in case you get stuck....
