On Tuesday this is essentially a new class. No more trig...instead we move on to the "college algebra" portion of PreCalc. The class will become much more Algebra based, and will touch on many things that you've learned in the past. It will also help to prepare you for many of the topics you'll see in a college algebra course next year (or 2 years from now).
"Different" does not mean "easier." We will still tackle some tough stuff, and we will still move quickly.
Our first chapter (starting Tuesday) will review linear equations--we're going to move quickly, and cover EVERYTHING about linear equations in 2 days...so be ready to learn! Look over some old notes and get a head start!
On Tuesday we all have a fresh start. Come to class with a positive attitude, find your new seat, and be ready to learn! This is a nice chance for all of us to start over; take advantage of it! I'd even recommend bringing a new, clean notebook for class!
Start the second semester strong--do the extra credit below! Extra credit #1 will help you get a head start on the math we'll be doing when we're back! We'll have a quiz Thursday!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra Credit #1: Due Tuesday
On Monday, this will be our stamp problem...it's more of a pre-test, and you can earn up to 3 stamps on this...want to get a head start? Figure out how to do all of these this weekend! If you bring these problems, completed, on Tuesday you will get 4 stamps (3 for the problems, and one bonus stamp) AND you will get 3 points added to your first quiz! (but you have to do them all, and they have to be correct!)
Extra Credit Opportunity #2: Due Tuesday
- Read each of the articles linked below.
- Record at least 5 things you learn from each article you read (links below). You must write the "things you learn" in complete sentences.
- You should have a total of 10 complete sentences, 5 per article.
