Monday HW!

Tonight, please complete the following in your textbook (or, I provided a copy of the textbook page today in class):

Page A61 (in appendix A at the back of the book): 83, 85, 89, 93, 95, 111, 115

  • If you did the extra credit assignment this weekend, you already did some of these! Nice work--you'll have less homework tonight!
  • For 83, factor our the greatest common factor of each term! Then, solve for x!
  • For 85, factor ("diamond method" style) then solve for x!
  • For 89, move all terms to one side (subtract 12 on both sides to start), then factor and solve for x!
  • For 93 and 95 you will not need to factor to solve for x, you will need to "take a square root" on both sides (at some point)!
  • For 111 and 115, you will need to use the quadratic formula to solve!
    • Remember, a = the # before x-squared term; b = the # before the x term; c = the constant, or the number without a variable!
    • Substitute the values of a,b,c into the quadratic equation below and simplify!
Tomorrow (in class) we'll get deeper into our notes on quadratics! See you there!
