Page A61 (in appendix A at the back of the book): 83, 85, 89, 93, 95, 111, 115
- If you did the extra credit assignment this weekend, you already did some of these! Nice work--you'll have less homework tonight!
- For 83, factor our the greatest common factor of each term! Then, solve for x!
- For 85, factor ("diamond method" style) then solve for x!
- For 89, move all terms to one side (subtract 12 on both sides to start), then factor and solve for x!
- For 93 and 95 you will not need to factor to solve for x, you will need to "take a square root" on both sides (at some point)!
- For 111 and 115, you will need to use the quadratic formula to solve!
- Remember, a = the # before x-squared term; b = the # before the x term; c = the constant, or the number without a variable!
- Substitute the values of a,b,c into the quadratic equation below and simplify!
